Thanks to having returned to carp fishing this year after a ten-year absence, we decided to try a French Carp fishing holiday. Trawling through the Internet we found Etang Baudy, about 30 km south of Limoges. It fitted in perfectly with our holiday plans, so we took the plunge and booked on line. The booking was easy and we were told that all equipment i.e. Bivvies, Rods, bed chair and so on were supplied free of charge, although we had already decided to take our own fishing equipment.

We arrived on the 21st May 2009 two days earlier than expected, to a very warm welcome from Jan & Wally, the bivvys were in place, and after a good cup of tea Wally helped us to our double swim. All of the equipment that we required was in place and we were fishing within minutes. This is a beautiful French lake of 11 acres with very well made swims, all spaced a good distance apart.

During the week we had regular visits from Jan & Wally to make sure that all was well. Jan supplied us with fresh eggs from her chickens, they do a food package but we had decided to do our own cooking (its pays to take the wife along). The weeks fishing was great, my wife Pam beat her PB, a lovely Mirror of 26lb.8oz, I also did a new PB of 32lb.8oz. We caught a total of 32 fish between us during the week; all of the carp were in good condition. We are not youngsters, and this was the first time that we had ever slept in a bivvy. It was a great adventure that we both enjoyed, in fact so much so that we retuned again in September, and had another great weeks fishing.
